All Free Clear Vs Dreft for Baby Eczema

Nope. In fact the fragrance can irritate some babies. It did my son. WIth my LO I bought the biggest bottle of All free and clear from sam's. I wash her laundry seperately from ours and she still has some and is almost 15 months old. That being said I will buy tide next time. It really helps with the fading of your clothes. My hubby and I had identical shirts that we wore to my son's soccer games before we were married. I washed mine in gain and he used tide. At the  end of the season his shirt looked so much better than mine did. So now that tide makes a free and clear I'm switching to it. My daughter's clothes are an investment and I am saving them for future kids.

  • like PP said. dreft is scented so in fact is NOT really ideal for babies with sensitive skin. when my preemie was born the doc said specifically for us to skip the dreft or so called 'baby' detergents and stick to a free and clear formula and the example she gave was all free and clear and thats what we use.

  • I like All Free and Clear the best.  With my first I used Dreft religiously because I though it was the best for a baby.  I started using it with my second and it irritated her skin so we switched to All Free and Clear and have never had a problem since.  Now, thinking about it it should have been obvious to me that a scented product was not the best thing for a baby with sensitive skin.

  • We have ALWAYS used All free and clear with our kids. They have never had an issue

  • I use all free and clear for all of our clothes- it is really not any more expensive then regular detergent....and I don't have to do an extra load.  I did a bottle of dreft and that stuff stunk!

  • Dreft is so worthless, I never understood why anyone buys that...

Any free and clear detergent, I prefer Tide, is better.

I love All Free Clear.  I use it for all of our clothes.  I use scented Tide (Essential White Lilac) for all our sheets, towels and blankets though.

I used any brand of Free and Clear detergent when my dd was young.  We're a family of skin allergies, so that was one reason.  Another was babies are expense and require so many products specifically for them that I felt I could skip the special laundry detergent.

  • We were already using All Free and Clear before my oldest was born due to dh's skin allergies. I pulled out a bottle of Dreft and a bottle of All Free and Clear, and realized the ingredients were exactly the same, except that Dreft had added perfumes. So we've  stuck with All Free and Clear. I wash everyone's clothes together, and we have never had allergy problems from laundry detergent.

  • All the pp are right...our ped actually told us NOT to use Dreft.  I have a history of allergies, so he said to use a Free & Clear detergent, didn't matter which one.  We were already using All Free & Clear, so that's what we continued to use.
